Friday Night Movies
Campus Life’s free Friday Night Movie series in the 2013-2014 school year had two showings every Friday at 8:00 p.m. & 10:30 p.m. in the Student Center Auditorium. When the Auditorium was not available, movies were shown in the Student Center Grand Ballroom.
Before each movie we have a preview slide-show which includes movie-going guidelines and .jpegs of upcoming Campus Life events. This is typically handled by Gregg but it is important to make sure that no past events are displayed in the slide-show.
For movies we anticipate to reach capacity quickly for the Auditorium (250), we had one to two A&E staffers work the movie. In situations where the movies were award winning and popular in the theatre, usually ended up being a full house. Wristbands are a very useful method of crowd management. Movie attendees with wristbands are guaranteed a seat and the rest are made aware that there is a second showing or that there is no room left. It is not always necessary to use wristbands, but it is always good to keep them in the green backpack just in case. The 10:30 p.m. show times typically have a higher attendance.
This year, we did not have the free popcorn outside of the auditorium like we have in past years, but food and drinks were still welcomed.
